In the few years we’ve seen Node.js explode onto the tech scene and go from strength to strength – In fact, the rate of adoption has been so great that the Node Foundation has mentioned that in the last year alone we’ve seen the amount of developers using the server-side platform have grown by 100% to reach a staggering 3.5 million users.

Early adopters to Nodehave included Netflix, PayPal, and even Walmart. The Node fanbase is constantly building new Node Package Managerpackages to share among themselves. With React and Angular offering the perfect accompaniment to Node in modern web applications, along with a host of JavaScript tools like Gulp and Grunt able to use Node’s best practices for easier development Node has become an essential tool for the modern JavaScript developer, one that shows no signs of slowing down or being replaced.

Whether Node will be around a decade from now remains to seen, but with a hungry user base, thousands of user created npms already created, and full-stack JavaScript moving to be the cornerstone of most web applications, it’s definitely not going anyway anytime soon.

For now, the future really is Node.
